Madison Avenue is a very powerful aggression against private consciousness. A demand that you yield your private consciousness to public manipulation.
Marshall McLuhan

Right. And here's the quote I keep around.

"World War Three is a guerrilla information war, with no division between military and civilian participation." Marshall McLuhan

I'm not sure who's more naive - the people who believe this quote from McLuhan or the people who don't.

All social discourse can be seen "as a demand" to "yield your private conciousness to public manipulation."

It would be wrong to do that, but it could be done.

We are social beings, aren't we?

So there's always a war between the public and private to some degree.

If you want to talk to someone else you always have to give a little of your ground up - since that's the only way you can hear them.
