I've never read anything by DFW, so thank you for reminding me that he is out there. I will endeavour, once I've moved house over the next week or two, to track down his work and eat it up. Nice blog BTW.
I just saw your excellent exchange with Daryl re: Mario. I wish I'd found your blog earlier this summer (you never tipped off the Infinite Summer crew, did you?)!
Anyway, there's great stuff here, and now that the spoiler line has passed your concerns about the narrator, I am feeling quite sure that option three is correct. I'm currently between Parts I and II of a lengthy post on the wraithly visitation, and I might need to add a Part III to do a little narrator id/speculation. unless you finish the job off first!

P.S. Oh, and I did a few posts on Orin's dread, including the dead bird (sparrow, apparently), and wish I had had those Hamlet lines available, e.g. in my "head."
I thought I had added my blog on IS, but apparently not and then just let it go because I haven't been posting as regularly about IJ as I'd intended. But I have been reading your excellent blog.
